‘Queen Amazon and Her Avian Entourage’ was an original painting completed in 2010 as part of the ‘Jungle Fleshed Femme Fatales’ exhibition.

Queen Amazon has been such a treasured work over the years and I fondly remember painting her. She was the first work to sell in this particular show and there has been a kinship with this image and feeling that the work elicits ever since. She is both soft and strong, vulnerable and formidable. She is flanked by her feathered friends and spiritual guardians almost becoming one with their forms. She is both looking back and leaning forward. The inevitable and welcome winds of change beckon in the background and swirl around her head. She will move, protected and safe, once again.
